Mary Snyder Artist

Hi! I’m Mary and I’m a collage artist living in Austin, Texas. Until June of 2020 I lived in NYC, before that San Francisco and Venice Beach, California. I started taking photos and making collages in high school before studying Sociology in college. After graduation I came back to making art because I realized making art was the only thing I wanted to do and I’ve been doing it ever since. I love how visceral it feels to work with my hands and my instincts.

My goal when making a piece is to not only catch someones eye aesthetically but emotionally. I want people to feel something when they look at my work. By using a mix of magazine cutouts, personal photographs, and gold leaf, I’ve created a body of work full of nostalgia, inspiration, and beauty. In addition to making collages, I’ve also curated a couple of gallery shows in Brooklyn, NY and published my own interview magazine called, Q&A: An Interview Magazine. At the beginning of July, 2021, I started selling my work at Austin artisan markets.
